Day 1- Paro- Thimphu
Embark on one of the most breathtaking mountain flights in the world as you journey to Paro. Upon arrival, our representative will be there to greet you at the airport. Then we will make our way to the capital city, Thimphu. Unlike any other capital, Thimphu boasts a charming quirk: it operates without any traffic lights! Instead, you'll find a friendly policeman at intersections, skillfully directing traffic with hand motions.
It's a sight you won't want to miss!
Later in the evening, your guide will take you on a tour to visit several key sites in Thimphu, including the National Memorial Chorten, the 12th-century Changangkha Temple, and Drubthob Monastery, which houses the Zilukha Nunnery. You'll also explore the School for Arts and Crafts, the National Library, the Traditional Paper Factory, and the Folk Heritage Museum, where you can learn about Bhutanese culture and history.
Day 2- Thimphu-Punakha
Get an early start as we head towards Punakha. Along the way, we'll make a stop at Dochula Pass (3,000m) to soak in the awe-inspiring views of the Himalayan peaks and take a leisurely stroll around the chorten. A delightful 40-minute downhill hike through rhododendron forests will invigorate you, providing a refreshing break from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Then, embark on a picturesque two-hour walk through villages and farmland. In the spring, you'll meander through charming villages, pass by lush green rice terraces, and encounter a variety of exotic trees, plants, and birds. During the fall, you'll witness farmers busy harvesting their rice terraces, offering a glimpse into the local agricultural lifestyle. Keep an eye out for eagles soaring below you into the forested valleys—it's a sight that's sure to take your breath away.
Day 3- Punakha sightseeing
In the morning, we'll head to the beautiful Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Temple, built by the Queen Mother of the 5th King with the aim of bringing peace to the world. This stunning temple features intricate spiritual artwork adorning its walls, including paintings of Buddhist teachers and deities. To reach the temple, we'll enjoy a scenic hike of about 30 minutes up the hill.
After our hike, you'll have the opportunity to experience rafting in the crystal-clear river for a small fee. Lunch will be served, and then we'll continue our exploration with visits to Punakha Dzong, Chimi Lhakhang (the temple of fertility), and a chance to stroll across the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan.
Day 4 -Punakha-Trongsa-Bumthang
Embark on a scenic drive from Punakha to Bumthang via Trongsa, a journey lasting about 8 hours. As we traverse over the Pele La pass (3,420m) on the Black Mountain range, we'll pause to admire the breathtaking scenery. Along the way, we'll make a stop at the enchanting Chendebji Chorten, a serene monument erected in the 18th century.
After a satisfying lunch break, we'll explore Trongsa Dzong, the largest dzong in Bhutan, offering sweeping views of the surrounding landscape for miles. Don't miss the chance to visit the Ta Dzong museum, which houses a remarkable collection of historical artifacts belonging to the Royal Family.
Our journey continues as we drive onward to Bumthang, a region steeped in history and home to some of Bhutan's oldest palaces and temples. You'll spend the night at your lodge in Jakar, Bumthang, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the countryside.
Day 5 -Bumthang sightseeing
Start your morning with a visit to Kurjey Lhakhang, a deeply sacred site where Guru Rimpoche, the patron saint of Bhutan, meditated. Next, explore the ancient 7th-century Jambay Lhakhang, steeped in history and spirituality.
After a delicious lunch, continue your exploration with visits to Jakar Dzong and Tamshing Lhakhang. Founded in 1501 by Pemalingpa, Tamshing Lhakhang boasts fascinating and ancient Buddhist wall paintings that offer a glimpse into Bhutan's rich cultural heritage. Take some time to wander through the charming village of Jakar, the main township of Bumthang, soaking in the local atmosphere.
As your day unfolds, delve deeper into the wonders of Bumthang. Discover the Tang Ugyen Choling Palace, a 16th-century marvel transformed into a museum showcasing traditional rural life in Bhutan. Then, journey to the tranquil pool of Mebartsho, known as the "burning lake," for a serene and contemplative experience. You'll spend the night at your lodge in Jakar, Bumthang, surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the region.
Day 6- Bumthang-Punakha
Get an early start today as we make our way to Gangtey, a journey of about 6 hours from Bumthang. Along the way, you'll be treated to scenic views of farmhouses and temples scattered across the landscape, with local farmers donning the traditional woven bamboo hats of central Bhutan.
Upon arrival, we'll visit Gangtey Goenpa, the only Nyingmapa monastery in western Bhutan, and take some time to explore the serene Phobjikha Valley. Here, you'll have the opportunity to view the majestic Black-Necked Cranes in their natural habitat. Then move to Punakha for night halt.
Day 7- Punakha- Paro
On our journey back to Paro, we'll travel over DochuLa via Thimphu, where you'll have a chance to explore handicraft and souvenir stores and enjoy a delightful lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, we'll continue our drive to Paro, making a stop en route to visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest dzong in Bhutan.
If time allows, we can also visit Tamchhu Lhakhang, a serene temple built by the legendary Iron Bridge Builder, Thangtong Gyalpo. Finally, we'll settle in for the night at a hotel in Paro, reflecting on the memorable experiences of our journey.
Day 8- Hike to Taktsang Monastery
After breakfast, we'll drive to the base camp of Taktsang for the hike up to the Taktsang Monastery, famously known as Tiger’s Nest. The trail is broad and takes about 2 hours uphill, but the effort is worth it. As you ascend, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the monastery perched on a sheer cliff face 900 meters above the valley floor. This iconic site holds immense significance for Buddhists, as it's believed that Guru Rimpoche flew here on the back of a tigress in the 8th century to bring the teachings of the Buddhist Dharma to Bhutan. He meditated in a cave for three months, which later became the site for the monastery and is considered the birthplace of Buddhism in Bhutan.
After soaking in the beauty and spirituality of Taktsang, we'll drive back to Paro. Along the way, your guide will take you to explore Paro town, where you can shop for handcrafted items and perhaps enjoy a relaxing cup of coffee to soothe your muscles after the day-long hike. You'll spend the night at your hotel in Paro.

Day 1- Paro- Thimphu
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you'll be warmly greeted by your guide in the traditional Bhutanese manner. After savoring this authentic welcome, your journey will commence from the airport to Thimphu, the capital city and a prominent tourist destination in Bhutan.
The unique thing about this city remains that even in the 21st century, it has no traffic lights. Nestled amidst picturesque landscapes adorned with blue pine forests, lush green valleys, and dotted with temples (Lhakhang) and monasteries, Thimphu offers a scenic retreat.
Following a long yet scenic drive, you'll check into the hotel in Thimphu. We suggest travelers engage in light activities on the first day to prevent exhaustion. Acclimatize to the altitude variation while enjoying lunch at the property. In the evening, your guide will take you all around the city to the various places such as Buddha Dordenma, Changangkha Lhakhang,Folk Heritage Museum,Tashichho Dzong, and craft market.
Day 2- Thimphu- Punakha
On the third day, the team will journey to Punakha, Bhutan's former capital until 1955. The excursion includes a stop at Dochula Pass, where you'll find the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens, offering stunning 360-degree views of the Himalayas.
During the trip, you'll visit Druk Wangyal Lhakhang temple, constructed to honor 100 years of monarchy and His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the fourth king, renowned for leading the raid that expelled Indian rebels.
Next, you'll proceed to Punakha Dzong, an architectural marvel and the administrative center of the region, positioned at the confluence of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. You'll have the opportunity to stroll across Pho Chhu Suspension Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan, boasting magnificent views of the valley and Punakha Dzong. Along the way to Punakha Dzong, you'll encounter Chhim Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility). Moreover, you can partake in rafting adventures on the swift-flowing river.
Day 3 -Punakha-Paro
After breakfast, the team will proceed to the picturesque Paro Valley, renowned for its ancient monasteries, temples, and the country's sole airport. Upon arrival, you will check into the hotel.
During your exploration, you'll have the opportunity to visit Kyichu Lhakhang, dating back to the seventh century and recognized as one of Bhutan's oldest temples, established by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo as part of the 108 temples. Adjacent to the temple lies a museum housed in a converted residence, dedicated to the late Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, showcasing his photographs and artifacts.
Dumtse Lhakhang, constructed in 1433 by Thangton Gyalpo, the renowned iron bridge builder, is another attraction. Legend has it that it was built to subdue a demoness and is securely chained to the ground. Its three floors symbolize hell, earth, and heaven. Access to Dumtse Lhakhang requires a special permit.
Day 4- Hike to Taktsang Monastery
Following breakfast, the team will embark on a hike to Taktsang Monastery, famously known as the Tiger's Nest, a profoundly significant site in Bhutan. Perched precariously on a high cliff, it is revered as one of the most sacred places in the Himalayas. Initiated by Guru Rinpoche in the eighth century, the monastery sits approximately 2,600 feet above the valley and at an altitude of 9,678 feet above sea level. Visitors, whether pilgrims or hikers, are invariably awestruck by the awe-inspiring experience it offers.
In the evening, your guide will accompany you for a stroll around Paro town, where you can browse handicrafts and enjoy coffee, among other activities.

Day 2- Thimphu-Punakha
After breakfast, your guide will take you on a tour to visit several key sites in Thimphu, including the National Memorial Chorten, the 12th-century Changangkha Temple, and Drubthob Monastery, which houses the Zilukha Nunnery. After lunch, the team will proceed to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan until 1955. Start your day with a drive to Gangtey, a scenic journey that takes approximately 1.5 hours from Punakha. As you traverse through dense forests of oak trees and rhododendrons, you'll eventually reach Gangtey village. Here, you'll explore Gangtey Gompa, the only Nyingmapa monastery in western Bhutan. From Gangtey, enjoy panoramic views of the picturesque Black Mountain range and the Phobjikha Valley, known as the winter habitat of the black-necked cranes. Will return back to the station.
Day 5- Punakha- Paro
As we head to Paro, known as the beautiful Valley and home to many of Bhutan's ancient monasteries and temples, you'll also find the country's only international airport here.
